‘Hypnocracy’: The regime to numb critical thinking
Critics say Elon Musk and Donald Trump are the high ‘priests’ of this phenomenon, warning that the unchecked use of AI could make the end of informed societies

The content of this report has been removed after it was found that the philosopher supposed author of the theory, Jianwei Xun, does not exist and is the result of artificial intelligence.
On March 26, EL PAÍS reported on the theory of hypnocracy, a new form of manipulation via the internet. However, the article has since been removed after it was discovered that the supposed author of the book, the Hong Kong-based philosopher Jianwei Xun, does not exist. The ideas attributed to him were actually created by Italian editor Andrea Colamedici, who was listed as the translator but was, in fact, the co-author of the book, alongside two artificial intelligence platforms. The book failed to acknowledge AI's involvement in the creation of the text, a violation of the new European AI Act. Following an investigation by the Italian magazine L'Espresso, the publisher admitted that the book's purported author is fictional.
