Paul McCartney plays single Spain date to celebrate EL PAÍS anniversary

Singer releases videos ahead of Madrid concert on June 2

Paul McCartney is to play a one-off concert in Spain this summer to celebrate the 40th and 50th anniversary of EL PAÍS and pop music radio station Los 40 Principales respectively, both part of the PRISA media group.

The concert, the former Beatle’s first in Spain for a decade, will take place at Madrid’s Vicente Calderón stadium, the ground of soccer club Atlético de Madrid, on June 2.

The Madrid date will be part of a European and North American tour to promote McCartney’s latest album, One on One, featuring his band from the last decade: Brian Ray, Rusty Anderson and Abe Laboriel Jr. As well as tracks from the new album and his solo period, McCartney will be mainly playing Beatles hits.

With less than a month to go, McCartney has released two videos of preparations for the tour (which can only be viewed in Spain).

Tickets go on sale Tuesday from 10am via Livenation.es, Ticketmaster and El Corte Inglés. They can also be purchased from paulmccartney.com and americanexpress.com, and from Wednesday EL PAÍS subscribers will be able to buy them from Livenation.es.
