Suspicious person shot dead by police in Catalan town of Subirats
Individual now confirmed as Younes Abouyaaqoub, chief suspect in Barcelona attack

Catalan regional police have brought down a person wearing what may be an explosive vest in the town of Subirats, some 50 kilometers from Barcelona.
Regional police in Catalonia have now confirmed this man was Younes Abouyaaqoub, alleged to have driven van along La Rambla during Thursday’s attack in the city which killed 13 people and left over 100 injured.
Explosives specialists have deployed a robot to approach the scene.

According to police sources that have not yet been officially confirmed, a witness alerted police to the presence of a terrorist in the area.
Police sources say the man shouted “Allahu Akbar” at a petrol station in the municipality.
