Fiancé falls to his death after stag night out
Victim fell out of a hotel window in Gijón as he returned from his own bachelor party
A 35-year-old man from Madrid died on Sunday morning after falling out of a hotel window in the northern city of Gijón, the police reported.
The victim, who was engaged to be married, had just returned from a bachelor party with friends.
The incident took place at 8am, when the fiancé fell out of the window on his fifth-floor room at the Begoña Hotel, in the Asturian city of Gijón.
The victim has been identified only as F.C.V.P.
According to a witness, the victim had a cellphone in his hand
Several witnesses reported hearing the impact of a body against the ground on 17 de Agosto street.
“I was having breakfast and I heard a noise, and suddenly a man came into the cafeteria and said ‘Call 112, a person has fallen’ and then the police showed up,” said one witness in statements to the local daily El Comercio.
According to this witness, the victim had a cellphone in his hand. Emergency workers who rushed to the scene confirmed the death.
The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation, although the police believe it was an accident, based on testimony provided by the victim’s friends and brother, who were out all night with him.
