Hacker posts obscene video on screens of Madrid’s new bicycle rental service
BiciMad is working to fix scheme’s computer system, which has been unstable since launch

People attempting to use Madrid’s new bicycle rental service were surprised to encounter an obscene video repeating over and over again on the screens of the service’s docking stations throughout the city on Sunday.
An as-yet unknown party, presumably from outside the company that runs the BiciMad service, managed to enter the computer system and insert an obscene clip showing a faceless man moving his penis up and down, over and over.
The images could be seen by anyone using the service around the capital: at the station on Mediterráneo avenue they were on view next to a carousel filled with children and their surprised parents, news wire Efe reported.
The company that runs the service said it was aware of the issue but preferred not to comment for the moment
The company that runs the service for Madrid City Hall, Bonopark, said it was aware of the issue but preferred not to comment for the moment.
This is just the latest problem to befall the Spanish capital’s new bicycle rental service, which has nonetheless received a strong positive response from the public.
Madrid Mayor Ana Botella inaugurated the scheme last Monday with a ride on one of its 1,560 electric bikes, but the ensuing rush by Madrileños eager to test out the new bikes saw the service’s computer system crash that same day.
