Whistleblowing ex-PP deputy claims he has received threats
Trías Sagnier told prosecutors about ruling party’s concealed slush fund accounts as managed by former treasurer Bárcenas
Former Popular Party lawmaker Jorge Trías Sagnier said Thursday he has received veiled threats from unknown people after he gave anticorruption prosecutors a statement acknowledging the existence of a slush fund used to pay bonuses to PP officials.
Trías, a lawyer and former deputy, filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office alleging that he has come under "media pressure and more or less veiled threats" that "seek to restrict his freedom of movement."
Trías appeared before prosecutors last week to tell them what he knows about ledgers kept by former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas, who purportedly recorded party donations and cash bonuses given to officials over the past 20 years.
