Murcia judge fined for insulting gays and single mothers
Magistrate would use profanity to describe same-sex married couples
A Murcia judge has been fined 3,000 euros for insulting homosexuals, single mothers and immigrants, the CCOO union, which filed the complaint, announced on Tuesday.
The fine was handed down by the Civil Registry against the judge, whose name was not released. According to a CCOO statement, the judge would use profanity to describe same-sex married couples; "whores" to refer to single mothers; and "deceivers" for immigrants who married Spanish partners "just to get their nationality." While it said that it was satisfied that the judge was finally fined "after many years of abuses," the CCOO said the decision was "somewhat light given that he may have committed a serious offense [with his insults]."
