Clamp ordered on failed Nueva Rumasa chief's assets

Granada court sets embargo on Ruiz-Mateos' funds to cover debts of Dhul food company

A Granada commercial court has ordered an embargo of 618 million euros of the assets of José María Ruiz-Mateos and two of his sons to cover the financial hole in the books of Dhul, a food-producing company that was part of the Ruiz-Mateos' failed conglomerate Nueva Rumasa, and which is now under receivership.

The embargo will apply to the potential proceeds from the sale of Nueva Rumasa to the company Back in Business, which specializes in restructuring ailing firms.

The court also ordered Ruiz-Mateos to hand over all private and public documents they have signed in connection with the sale of Nueva Rumasa.
