The Golden Globes 2025 party will be the first of this awards season, recognizing the best in film and television over the past year. Among the nominees are blockbusters such as Dune: Part Two and The Substance, as well as acclaimed independent works such as The Apprentice (based on the life of President-elect Donald Trump) and Saturday Night (inspired by the first episode of the popular Saturday Night Live series). In the television categories, limited series such as Baby Reindeer and The Penguin will compete for the most important awards.

Career recognition awards return this year, and the winners have been announced. The Cecil B. DeMille Award will be presented to EGOT actress Viola Davis, and the Carol Burnett Award will go to television icon Ted Danson. Here is all the key information for the ceremony to be held on Sunday, January 5.

Where to watch the Golden Globes 2025?

The ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. EST / 5:00 p.m. PST on January 5, 2025. The telecast will be available live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

Who is hosting and who will present the awards?

The event will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, known for her style of insult comedy and for hosting the series Not Safe with Nikki Glaser. This is the first time that the Ohio native will host the awards show, which was hosted last year by comedian Jo Koy, who caused controversy because his presentation was not well received by the audience, which he attributed to having little preparation time prior to the event. Also, during his opening monologue, he accused the show’s writers of giving him bad jokes. To avoid a similar situation, Glaser was announced as host in late August 2024.

Other presenters for this year’s 2025 awards include:Andrew Garfield, Anthony Mackie, Anthony Ramos, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ariana DeBose, Aubrey Plaza, Auliʻi Cravalho, Awkwafina, Brandi Carlile, Catherine O’Hara, Colin Farrell, Colman Domingo, Demi Moore, Dwayne Johnson, Édgar Ramírez, Elton John, Gal Gadot, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Coolidge, Kaley Cuoco, Kate Hudson,Kathy Bates, Ke Huy Quan, Kerry Washington, Margaret Qualley, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Keaton, Michelle Yeoh, Miles Teller, Mindy Kaling, Morris Chestnut, Nate Bargatze, Nicolas Cage, Rachel Brosnahan, Rob McElhenney, Salma Hayek Pinault, Sarah Paulson, Seth Rogen, Sharon Stone, Vin Diesel, Viola Davis, and Zoë Kravitz.

Who are the nominees?

The French film Emilia Perez is the film with the most nominations, its protagonists Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez and the Spanish Karla Sofia Gascon, who has made history for being the first transgender actress to be nominated for a Golden Globe in a leading role. The film’s director Jacques Audiard is one of the people with the most nominations, accumulating three, for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Song for The Evil, which he co-wrote with musicians Camille and Clément Ducol. The film, despite being praised around the world, has caused controversy in Mexico because Audiard acknowledged that he did not investigate the Mexican context to tell the story of a drug trafficker who seeks gender reassignment surgery to forget their past. Director and photographer Rodrigo Prieto stated that the film is offensive and “completely inauthentic”.

On the other hand, the drama starring Adrien Brody, The Brutalist, received seven nominations, while the film about religion Conclave accumulated six. Other nominees include Anora, The Substance, Challengers and A Real Pain, as well as the work inspired by the life of Bob Dylan, A Complete Unknown.

As for TV nominations, The Bear continues its streak by racking up six nods in the comedy category (despite being considered a drama), followed by Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun, both of which have six nominations.
