The High Court on Wednesday subpoenaed Barça soccer player Neymar Da Silva Santos Junior over alleged tax and other financial crimes that may have been committed in connection with the club’s signing of the Brazilian star several years ago.

Judge José de la Mata summoned Neymar to appear on February 2 as an official suspect in the inquiry. The player’s parents, along with Barça president Josep María Bartomeu and his predecessor, Sandro Rosell, were also instructed to provide testimony on February 1 and 2.

The High Court has been conducting an ongoing investigation into the contracts signed between Barcelona and the Brazilian player.

In 2014, the public prosecutor of Spain’s High Court had asked the judge to place Barça under an official inquiry after a report showed that the club failed to pay more than €9 million in taxes by not declaring all the contracts involved in Neymar’s transfer.

Judge De la Mata has also subpoenaed other representatives of Barcelona FC and N&N Consultoría Esporteiva e Empresarial.

The fraud lawsuit was brought by DIS (Deportes e Organizaçao de Eventos), the company that held 40 percent of Neymar’s rights before the transfer from Santos to Barça.
