High Court asks to see Neymar’s contract
Barcelona board member lodges suit against club president Rosell over multi-million deal
High Court Judge Pablo Ruz has requested the contracts signed by Brazilian star Neymar when he joined Barcelona in the summer. The magistrate will study the documents pertaining to the player's 57-million-euro transfer from Santos before deciding whether to accept a suit lodged by a Barcelona board member, Jordi Cases, against club president Sandro Rosell for wrongful appropriation over the signing of the forward.
Ruz also issued a writ demanding the financial records of the club from 2011, 2012 and 2013 as he weighs up whether to investigate whether the details of Neymar’s signing were hidden from club members.
In Cases’ suit, the executive states that of the transfer fee, 17.1 million euros went on federative rights and 40 million to N&N (Neymar and Neymar), the company that holds the rights to the player and is controlled by Neymar’s father. Cases says that the club’s members “do not know the real destination of those 40 million euros supposedly paid to the player or his legal representatives.”
