Controversial interview sees ads pulled from TV show

Mother of Francisco Javier García, implicated in Marta del Castillo murder, appeared on "La Noria"

A popular late-night television talk show lost a chunk of its advertising following a boycott campaign by viewers over last Saturday's telecast, in which the mother of one of the people implicated in the Marta del Castillo murder trial appeared.

Campofrío, Puleva, President, Bayer and Nestlé all decided to pull their ads from La Noria, the popular talk show that mixes gossip and political analysis with invited guests and panelists. On Saturday, La Noria, which is broadcast on Telecinco, invited Rosalia García, the mother of Francisco Javier García, "El Cuco", who was charged and jailed for his part in covering up the crime, the trial of which is ongoing in Seville.

When it was learned that García's mother was going to appear in exchange for 10,000 euros, many took to the social networks asking for people to boycott the program. "El Cuco," who was a minor when the murder took place, has been cleared of rape and murder charges.

Prosecutors have asked a judge to order the mother to forfeit the payment. The Del Castillo family is asking that the money be put toward paying the 414,000 euros the authorities spent in dredging the Guadalquivir river in search of Marta's body. On his Twitter account, La Noria host Jordi González claimed that Campofrío was taking advantage of the free publicity it is getting from the boycott.
