Customer complaint goes viral after delivery man offers “extra” services

Messenger began sending suggestive texts to female package recipient via WhatsApp

Héctor Llanos Martínez

Alba, who on her Facebook account says she is a primary school teacher in Valencia, took to Twitter last week to complain about the service she had received from the Spanish delivery company MRW. She posted a screenshot from a WhatsApp conversation with the messenger (above), who had used her personal information from her order to get in touch with her.

The texts, all sent from the delivery man, read:

“I know you, but I don’t know where from… I’m the guy who just dropped off the package”

“Am I supposed to read between the lines after you changed your profile picture to one with your boyfriend? Haha”

“Hey forget about it, I’m just making things worse. Sorry to have bothered you”

“Good luck ;)”

“But listen… is that your boyfriend?? Haha”

“Don’t leave me hanging”

After receiving the texts, she posted a message to MRW via Twitter saying: “You should choose your workers more carefully because otherwise, this happens. Where is my privacy?”

Her post was shared more than 2,800 times, and she has since set her account to private, meaning her tweets are no longer publicly visible.

Before that though, tweets of support were posted, as well as accounts from other women who claim to have been victims of the same kind of incident. Tweets criticizing Alba’s acts, especially those who considered that jobs were being put at risk, were also part of the responses. Alba decided to share these negative responses via her Twitter account.

This worker, if the story is true, is an idiot; but I would have liked to have known what would have happened if the delivery man looked like this…

@cabronetti: @albatardellum @SenoritaPuri @MRW_clientes “That’s what happens when you answer the door to collect a package in your underwear”

@sizksaddaria: @albatardellum the same thing happened to me with a delivery man a year ago and I understand what you’re going through. All the best!

Person 2: Hey? I don’t have your number saved, who are you?

Person 1: I delivered a package to you two days ago and on top of that I give relaxing massages at home and I wanted to offer you my services if you were interested. If not, it’s ok. Sorry and all the best

For their part, MRW requested that the customer file a formal complaint, including all of her details. But Alba was indecisive, given that the messenger already knows where she lives. She wrote: “I didn’t put in a complaint because I was scared.” The delivery company told Verne that “there is an internal protocol that is being followed for this case. Although there was no formal complaint from the customer, action will still be taken toward the responsible parties if necessary”.

@MRW_clientes: @albatardellum Hi, send us in a DM your information so that we can handle your complaint (name, address and/or telephone number and transaction number)

MRW reported that this is the first time they have been made aware of an incident like this happening within their company. One of their spokespersons, Enrique García, told Verne that it is “an out-of-the-ordinary situation,” and that their legal advisers do not have a record of similar circumstances. “We consider that this is not an issue related to the company but is instead a criminal matter, and if it is confirmed, it should be addressed directly with the police” he concluded.

@Rojobilbao: @albatardellum @MRW_clientes you should rethink your acts. He hit on her, without a doubt. Because of you, he might get fired”

@albatardellum: @MRW_clientes they have just gotten in contact with me to offer me protection, apologize and they are going to take measures. It worked.
