Barcelona and Paris finally get their high-speed rail link
Journey time between cities of six-and-a-half hours
After billions of euros of investment, years of negotiations between governments, and work to homologize the trains used, France and Spain celebrated the first ever direct high-speed rail journey between Barcelona and Paris on Sunday.
Public Works Minister Ana Pastor and French Transport Minister Frédéric Cuvillier described the day as "historic," before boarding the inaugural train on the route to try out the six-and-a-half-hour journey for herself.
