Police investigate shooting death of 76-year-old woman with rap sheet for drug crimes

Police who were called to an address in the Madrid neighborhood of Vallecas Tuesday morning discovered a 76-year-old female resident dead with a gunshot wound to the right temple.

Tw woman identified as Dolores V. C., who had been arrested on 10 occasions for supplying drugs, was found at 9.30am by her son, Antonio P. G., who also has a lengthy rap sheet for drug offenses, violent robbery and car theft. Dolores V. C. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives searched trash cans and recycling bins in the area around the victim’s home but found no trace of a firearm. Neighbors of the elderly woman said they had heard no gunshots or seen anything out of place during the morning. The police are leaving every avenue of investigation open.

This latest crime brings to 21 the number of homicides recorded in Madrid so far in 2013. Last Saturday, a 25-year-old Russian man was stabbed to death in the street in the Fuenlabrada district of the capital.
