Socialist leader Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba is proposing four specific measures to fight political corruption, including banning businesses from making party donations.

Speaking in Bilbao Sunday, Rubalcaba also suggested creating an Anti-Corruption Office with powers in all the regions, giving the High Court power to try all cases of political corruption and barring companies involved in corruption cases from securing public contracts.

Rubalcaba's statements come days after EL PAÍS published information showing alleged illegal donations made to the ruling Popular Party by construction magnates, as well as covert cash payments to party leaders.
