Action franchise is Bourne again as Aardman returns on a pirate ship

The Bourne Legacy, the fourth film in the groundbreaking Bourne action franchise, is also something of a reboot -- a case of Bourne again, perhaps? Matt Damon makes way for The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner, while behind the camera Tony Gilroy, the man who penned the original trilogy as well as directing Michael Clayton, takes over from Paul Greengrass. Renner plays superspy Aaron Cross, product of a CIA program similar to the one that spawned Jason Bourne, whose life is put in danger by the fallout from the first three films. Also joining the cast are Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton, while Joan Allen and Albert Finney return.

The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists is the new stop-motion feature from UK-based Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman Animations. The company's first 3D venture, it features Hugh Grant as the voice of the "luxuriantly-bearded" Pirate Captain whose one dream is to beat his pirating rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the Pirate of the Year award. It's a quest that leads him and his crew into foggy London and run-ins with Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton) and Charles Darwin (David Tennant).

Also delving into a comic past are There's Something About Mary directors the Farrelly Brothers, who resurrect Larry, Curly and Moe for a modern audience in The Three Stooges. Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso are the new faces of the classic slapstick trio in a story that sees them fighting to save the orphanage in which they grew up. Modern Family's Sofía Vergara and Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry David also feature.

Lastly, directed by Japan's prolific Takashi Miike, Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai is a 3D remake of a 1962 movie that follows in the footsteps of his excellent 2010 sword-swishing epic 13 Assassins.
