2026 Oscars: Where and when to watch the Academy Awards

Here’s what you need to know ahead of Hollywood’s biggest night, which takes place on Sunday, March 15

The 98th Academy Awards will take place this Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the film industry will gather once again to honor the year’s best movies. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, who also served as host at last year’s event.

In addition to the anticipation surrounding the winners, the ceremony will feature several musical performances inspired by some of the year’s standout films. The show’s producers have hinted that performances will celebrate the role of music in cinema, with tributes to films that have had a strong cultural impact on audiences.

Among the favorite films of 2026, Sinners stands out with 16 nominations. In fact, Ryan Coogler’s film has broken the record for most Oscar nominations. Other notable contenders include One One Battle Sfter Another, with 13, and Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, and Sentimental Value, each with nine. Competition is expected to be fierce, with big‑budget productions and auteur films vying for the night’s top awards.

Oscar 2026 schedule in the Americas

The main ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT in the United States, while the official red carpet will start half an hour earlier, at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.

These are the approximate times to follow the gala in different countries across the continent:

  • United States (ET): 7:00 p.m.
  • United States (PT): 4:00 p.m.
  • Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua: 6:00 p.m.
  • Colombia, Peru, Panama, and Ecuador: 7:00 p.m.
  • Bolivia, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic: 8:00 p.m.
  • Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil: 9:00 p.m.

The ceremony usually lasts about three and a half hours.

Where to watch the Oscars

In the United States, the awards will be broadcast live on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu, which will air the ceremony for the first time this year. The awards show will also be streamed on HBO Max.

In Latin America, the ceremony can be followed on the TNT channel, which traditionally broadcasts the event in the region. In Mexico, the gala will also be available on free‑to‑air television on TV Azteca, on channels 7 and 13.

Which films are nominated?

Among this year’s most notable productions is Sinners, which arrives as the most‑nominated film in the history of the awards, with a total of 16 nominations. Also competing for Best Picture are One Battle After Another, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Bugonia, F1, The Secret Agent, and Train Dreams.

Presenters and performances

As is tradition, several past Oscar winners will take part as presenters during the ceremony. Confirmed names include Robert Downey Jr., Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Mescal, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Javier Bardem, Demi Moore, and Chris Evans, among others.

This year’s Academy Awards will includes performances by Raphael Saadiq, who will perform the Oscar-nominated original song I Lied to You from Sinnars; Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — the singers behind HUNTER/X — who will perform the original song Golden, from the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters; and Josh Grobany and the Los Angeles Maestro Choir.
