The American rapper PnB Rock has died following a shooting incident on Monday at a restaurant in Los Angeles, where a suspect with a firearm shot the artist, took his jewelry and fled the scene. The incident was first reported by the news site TMZ and his death was later confirmed by the authorities. He was 30.

PnB Rock had uploaded a video to social media where he could be seen wearing jewelry. According to TMA, his girlfriend Steph Sibounheuang later uploaded to Instagram a photograph with a geotagged location of the restaurant where they were eating, Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles on Manchester Boulevard, in Inglewood.

An armed robber showed up soon later. TMZ posted a video of the rapper on the ground moments after being shot, still alive. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead about 45 minutes later.

The Philadelphia-born rapper, whose real name was Rakim Allen, was based in Los Angeles. He found fame with his debut album Catch These Vibes, and his 2017 single Selfish reached No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over three million copies.

Hip hop artist Nicki Minaj, who collaborated with PNB Rock in 2019, published a series of critical messages on Twitter regarding the practice of revealing one’s location.
