Clubber calls police after overcrowding impedes exit
Officers evacuate 840 people from Madrid nightspot with license for 219 patrons

Madrid police officers responded to an unusual emergency call in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a worried patron of the Mondo nightclub in the center of the city called to say that the venue was so full of people, that they were unable to make their way out.
When officers arrived on the scene it was evident that the club was well over capacity, which prompted the police to evacuate the premises. By 5.45am, a total of 840 people had left the venue, despite the fact that Mondo only has a license for a maximum of 219 patrons.
On Friday night another venue in central Madrid, called Tribeca, was found to have 247 people inside, despite having a license to hold just 71 patrons.
