Messi's brother unhurt in drive-by shooting
Unidentified gunmen open fire at house of sibling of Barça forward
A group of unidentified gunmen on motorcycles shot at the house of the brother of Barça forward Lionel Messi on Saturday night in Rosario, Argentina, media in Buenos Aires reported on Monday.
Matías Messi was inside the house with his mother Cecilia during the attack, the daily La Capital reported.
No injuries were reported and police were still trying to determine the causes for the attack. According to La Capital, which quoted police sources, the gunmen shot at the house at least six times with 9mm weapons. A neighbor's home was also hit by bullets.
Witnesses told police that they saw at least two motorcyclists fleeing the scene following the shooting.
Police sources said that the Messi family didn't immediately report the incident.
"We have no explanations but there is a crime problem in Argentina, and this incident has been highlighted because it has to do with the Messis," said the family's lawyer Ricardo Giusepponi.
