Rosalía makes surprise contribution to new song by Spanish rock band Carolina Durante
The global pop star lends her voice to a guitar song, ‘Normal,’ included in the third album by the young Madrid-based group
On Friday, the Spanish rock band Carolina Durante released their new album, Elige tu propia aventura (Choose your own adventure), the third in the career of the four musicians from Madrid who debuted in 2017.
The big surprise comes with the second song in the album, Normal, where Rosalía’s characteristic voice can suddenly be heard towards the end.
Rosalía and Carolina Durante’s relationship began when the Catalan singer recommended the band’s concert at WiZink in Madrid in January 2023. “This Friday there is a plan @carolinadurante”, referring to the concert, and she posted a photo of the venue on Google Maps. The group then responded: “We confirm that there is a plan.” Around that time, a friendship began to develop that has led to this collaboration.
Normal is a guitar-based pop song that is outside Rosalía’s usual vocal register, more accustomed to flamenco and urban music like her chart-topping Motomami. Carolina Durante is named after a former girlfriend of one of the bandmembers.
