Jennifer Lopez, furious with Ben Affleck, looks for a new house away from him for $68 million

The singer, who has been estranged from her husband for months, has already sold their joint mansion in Beverly Hills and is trying to find another one in the same area. The actor has also bought a new property by the sea

The unofficial separation between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck is becoming more and more obvious. The couple has not appeared in public together for months: they have not been seen doing everyday tasks together (they used to be commonly seen buying coffee and donuts or walking with their children) nor at important events (such as the Met Gala, which Lopez helped host and attended alone with a serious expression). But the real key point has been the sale of the house they bought just a year ago in the luxurious area of Beverly Hills, next to Los Angeles. As the home is already on the market and given that Lopez sold her house — with a plot of 32,400 square meters, beach and amphitheater — in October 2023, the singer is already looking for a new one that is just as luxurious as the old one. Affleck has already bought a property near the sea. And Lopez is, apparently, furious with the whole process.

The singer was spotted last weekend visiting mansions in that exclusive area — a city in itself, although surrounded by Los Angeles — with her daughter Emme. Affleck and Lopez’s home has been put on the market for $68 million, and the singer is looking at others of equal value, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as reported by the website TMZ. Lopez returned a few days ago from New York, where she celebrated her 55th birthday, again, without Affleck. In Los Angeles, she also closed another real estate transaction: the sale of an apartment in the city for $23 million. Meanwhile, Affleck also closed his own deal, buying a house by the ocean, further from Beverly Hills and the city center, in the Pacific Palisades area, for $20 million. And that is one of the reasons why Lopez is angry.

Apparently, according to the press, the actress was upset that Affleck — who is still her husband — did not attend their wedding anniversary celebrations and, precisely that weekend, decided to buy a new house. But she is also very angry in general about the alleged breakup and how it is being handled, sources close to the singer told Page Six. The singer of Let’s Get Loud and On The Floor is “furious.” “He has humiliated her. He was the one who initiated getting back together,” says the source, referring to how the couple restarted their relationship after years apart. The two began dating in the summer of 2021 and were engaged to be married but called off the wedding due to the high level of media scrutiny. Nearly a decade later, they rekindled their relationship and got married in 2022.

“He’s humiliated her because she made a big deal that he’s the love of her life,” explains the source, who describes Lopez as a “romantic.” “They just had two weddings two years ago. This is some kind of a record, they’re not young kids.”

The source adds that both their families are involved in the relationship, and that the couple has formed a new family. “There are five kids involved in this,” says the source, referring to the 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, from Lopez’s marriage to Marc Anthony, and Violet, Fin and Samuel, Affleck’s children with actress Jennifer Garner “She knew they were going to blend families. She has not fully accepted it is over.”

Although they have not confirmed the split — the two have been picture with and without their wedding rings and claim that professional commitments are keeping them apart — there is no doubt in Hollywood that they have broken up. Neither Lopez or Affleck nor their representatives have confirmed or denied the allegations, but that is the usual pattern. According to several media outlets, the two are finalizing the details of the divorce and barely speak to each other. According to People, which also confirmed that they are living separate lives, Lopez is spending time with her children, family and friends and trying to stay away from the media spotlight.

Lopez wanted to reflect her relationship with Affleck in a strange triple project consisting of an album (This Is Me... Now), a long musical-video clip (This Is Me... Now: A Love Story) and a documentary (The Greatest Love Story Never Told) that was released last February. Nobody believed in the idea, so she ended up putting $20 million of her own money into the project.

In addition to the new album, Lopez announced a tour, but she cancelled it just a month before it began. According to other sources, Affleck has not been pleased with how she put their relationship in the media spotlight, and the differences between the two have become evident over time. In fact, some media outlets said that Lopez is a brand in of herself, with a retinue of stylists, publicists and personal trainers behind her, and that he has a very different relationship with fame, meaning they are “not on the same page.”
