Officers in the Peruvian National Police dressed up as superheroes to carry out a drug raid on Saturday. The police officers put on Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor and Batman costumes in an effort to appear as performers who were entertaining children at a nearby school.
The mission, dubbed “Operation Marvel,” targeted members of a suspected drug gang in Lima, the capital of Peru. Four people were arrested on the suspicion of belonging to a criminal organization, and coca paste, marijuana and cocaine hydrochloride were also seized.
EL PAÍS spoke to police chief David Villanueva about the operation.
