More rain is expected in northern Spain throughout Friday and Saturday due partly to northern winds that will also bring lower temperatures.

Snowfall is forecast above altitudes of 1,500m in the Cantabrian region, and 1,800m to 2,000m elsewhere, leading to a weekend of open ski runs in various parts of Spain. Six resorts will be opening this weekend: Leitariegos, Alto Campoo, San Isidro, La Masella, La Covatilla and Sierra Nevada.

There is a chance of Saturday morning showers in the south as well, although skies will gradually clear up. Sunny weather is expected throughout the Mediterranean region and in the Canary Islands.

Highs will hover around 20ºC on Friday and Saturday.

The weather will turn on Sunday, with clear skies in much of the peninsula save for the northern coast. Temperatures will remain a little cool for this time of the year.
