An officer from the Spanish National Police and a bank robber died on Friday after a shootout at a bank branch in Vigo, Galicia, in northwest Spain. Another police officer is in a serious condition after being shot twice in the chest.

The deputy manager of the bank has been taken to a nearby hospital with light injuries.

The branch is located in Doctor Carracido street, which was cordoned off on Friday by the authorities after the shooting.
