Murdered volleyball player was pregnant
Police believe the killing of her and her husband were in retaliation for a business deal gone bad
Ingrid Visser, the Dutch female volleyball champion whose remains were found in a shallow grave after she was brutally murdered along with her husband in Murcia, was three months pregnant, her former teammates said on Tuesday.
Police believe that Visser, 36, and Lodewijk Severin, 57, were killed in retaliation for a business deal gone bad. Her family said that she had traveled to Spain earlier this month for medical treatment at a fertility clinic.
Three suspects - a Spaniard and two Romanians - are in custody in connection with the killing of the 1995 European Volleyball Championship winner and her husband.
