Minors caught by police after sending child pornography images

Video and photos were made by 13-year-old girl and uploaded by her boyfriend

The police have arrested six minors for distributing sexually explicit material online. A recording and several photographs were taken by a 13-year-old girl, who filmed herself and a very young child and sent the material to her 14-year-old boyfriend through her cellphone. The latter passed the files on to his contacts, and in a short space of time thousands of internet users had access to the material via video-sharing site YouTube.

One of the detainees is the individual who uploaded the video to YouTube. The recording was quickly deleted by the police’s special IT unit.

Several citizen alerts issued on May 13 led the authorities to investigate the case. The video was shot in the region of Castilla-La Mancha.

Although the author of the film is too young to face charges, the 14-year-olds face penalties for distributing child pornography.
