TVE director resigns after accidentally emailing report criticizing journalists
Document discredited candidates for corporation's workers committee on political grounds

A director at state TV network TVE has resigned after its board of news was mistakenly emailed a report discrediting candidates for election to the corporation's workers committee on political grounds. Some candidates were described as making up Socialist leader Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba's "squad," while others were identified as obedient to the "discipline" of a labor union or party.
Cecilia Gómez, TVE's director of news services, handed her resignation to network head of news Julio Somoano on Monday. But she did not admit to authoring the report, according to a spokesman, saying she was resigning so as not to damage the corporation.
Some of the journalists cited said such ideologically and politically motivated "espionage" was intolerable and asked to know how long the compiling of such reports had been going on.
