Andalusia elections set for March 25
Opinion polls point to a shift in region's party politics as PP threatens Socialist hegemony
Andalusia Socialist premier José Antonio Griñán on Wednesday announced that elections for the assembly of the southern region will be held on Sunday March 25.
The Socialists have ruled in Andalusia for 30 years but the latest opinion polls point to the Popular Party, led by party baron and former minister Javier Arenas, winning a majority in the regional assembly for the first time.
The PP swept regional and municipal elections in May of last year followed by a landslide victory in the general elections held on November 20.
