Helicopter crash in Granada claims three lives
As yet unexplained accident involved fire-fighting aircraft
Three men died on Monday after the helicopter in which they were traveling crashed at around 11.30am in an area known as Fuente de la Gitana, in Granada province.
Two of the occupants of the helicopter appeared to have been thrown from the aircraft, while a third was found among the wreckage. All three bodies were completely burnt by a fire that broke out as the accident happened.
The helicopter, a Bell 412, was traveling to its base in Palma del Río, in Córdoba, the Infoca forest-fire prevention unit. The aircraft was due to replace another fire-fighting unit that was undergoing repairs.
The accident came just a day after another helicopter, carrying three people, crashed in El Puerto de Santa María, in Cádiz. All three escaped the crash with their lives.
