Three die in fairground accident at Toledo town festival

Three young people died and a girl was seriously injured after the pod they were sat in came off a fairground ride at a local festival in Villacañas, in Toledo province, late on Monday night. All the victims were Romanian nationals and none lived in the town.

The Civil Guard has begun an investigation into the causes of the accident, which occurred on the fair's "Extreme" ride. The attraction consists of a mechanical arm that rotates and moves up and down four facing seats, one of which came loose, causing the three deaths.
