Socialists facing worst ever electoral defeat, poll reveals
Popular Party increases advantage according to latest Metroscopia survey
With a year to go before general elections, the ruling Socialists are running out of time to turn negative public opinion around. The Popular Party (PP)'s advantage is 15.9 points, a point higher than one month ago, according to a Metroscopia survey, carried out for EL PAÍS.
The poll indicates that 44 percent of the vote would go to the PP in elections and 28.1 percent to the Socialist Party, its worst result ever.
With the economy still ailing, the government has just introduced another impopular measure: a speed limit reduction that goes into effect Monday. The poll reveals that 69 percent of citizens reject that move.
