Celebrity couples: The breakups, rekindled romances and new partners of 2022

Last year, Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced their shock separation, while Australian actress Rebel Wilson confirmed her relationship with Ramona Agruma

In June, Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué and Colombian singer Shakira announced they were separating after nearly 12 years together. In a short, joint statement, they stated: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.” Five months after their separation, the former couple reached a child custody agreement. Under the deal, Shakira will live in Miami with their two children, Sasha, 11, and Milan, nine. At the beginning of November, Piqué announced his surprise retirement from soccer. In an Instagram story, Brady posted: “We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.” The announcement was no surprise: it followed months of rumors of a split. There is speculation the couple divorced due to Brady’s decision to come out of retirement.
