At least 10 people are dead and 15 more injured following a multiple stabbing in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, authorities reported.

A manhunt is underway for two suspects identified as Damien Sanderson, 31, and Myles Sanderson, 30, said an official with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) at a news conference on Sunday in Regina, the capital of the central province.

The stabbing spree took place on the James Smith Cree Nation, a First Nation indigenous community whose reserve is located north of the town of Melfort, and it extended into the nearby village of Weldon.

Authorities have counted 13 crime scenes, and said that some of the victims appeared to be deliberately targeted by the suspects, while others were apparently attacked at random.

“They’re considered armed and dangerous,” said Rhonda Blackmore, the assistant commissioner in charge of the Saskatchewan department of the RCMP, at the news conference. This official said the alleged perpetrators may have been travelling in a black Nissan Rogue.

“At this point we don’t know if they have changed vehicles since this morning. Their location and direction of travel is unknown,” she added. A dangerous persons alert has been extended to the nearby provinces of Alberta and Manitoba.
