Judge to embargo assets of former PP treasurer's wife

Rosalía Iglesias due to appear in court on Wednesday in tax fraud probe

Rosalía Iglesias, the wife of former ruling Popular Party treasurer, Luis Bárcenas, is due to appear in the High Court on Wednesday as part of proceedings to embargo her assets in connection with a probe into alleged tax fraud, money laundering and corruption involving her and her husband, who remains in preventive custody.

Judge Pablo Ruz, who is handling the investigation, imposed a six-million-euro civil liability bond on Iglesias on July 31, a day after he ordered an embargo of Bárcenas' assets after the former PP moneyman failed to come up with a bond of 43.2 million euros. Bárcenas had deposited millions of euros in bank accounts he opened in Switzerland.
