Amaiur speaks of "sorrow" for victims of ETA
Statement marks the first time the abertzale left has acknowledged victims of ETA
Representatives of the former Batasuna and other Basque political parties that signed the 2010 Gernika Accord — Aralar, EA and Alternatiba — have expressed collective "sorrow" for the victims of "ETA violence and the repressive strategies and dirty wars of the French and Spanish governments."
It was the first time the abertzale left, now grouped as Amaiur, has acknowledged ETA victims but associations rejected the statement because it fell short of an apology and placed victims on a level with ETA members killed during the "conflict."
