Actor Jeremy Renner, Marvel’s Hawkeye, in critical condition after snow plow accident
The Hollywood star was airlifted to hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries
Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in Marvel’s The Avengers movie saga, is in a critical, but stable situation after being injured while plowing snow on the weekend. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Renner, 51, was injured in Reno and was flown to a hospital. He was the only person involved, and the sheriff’s office is investigating, according to the release. No further details on the extent of Renner’s injuries were available.
“His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care,” the actor’s representative told Variety magazine.
According to local media, the accident took place while Renner was using a snowplow to clear snow around his house in Nevada, where 35,000 homes were left without electricity following last week’s winter storm. Just a few weeks ago, Renner himself spoke about the impact of the heavy snowfall. In an Instagram post to his 5.9 million followers, he wrote: “Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke.”
“Upon arrival, deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said.
Renner owns several snowplows that he uses around the ranch to clear his private driveways and area roads. A few years ago, the actor revealed that in past occasions, he has helped the fire department and that even bought them a spare truck.
Renner is best known for starring as Clin Barton, or Hawkeye, in Marvel’s The Avengers movie saga. But the actor has also starred in other blockbusters such as Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Bourne Legacy. The actor has achieved two Oscar nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for his roles in The Hurt Locker (2008) and The Town (2010), respectively. The accident comes ahead of the premiere of the second series of Mayor of Kingstown, which also stars Kyle Chandler.
