Where and when to watch the Oscars 2022 in the Americas
The 94th Academy Awards are back at the Dolby Theater following two years of pandemic, and for the first time they will be hosted by three female comedians
The 94th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 27, in Los Angeles following two years of a pandemic that shut down movie theaters and halted film productions across the world.
The Dolby Theater will once again house at a highly anticipated ceremony that has not one but three hosts this year: Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall.
The favorite to win the best picture award this year is Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, which reinterprets the masculinity of westerns. Mexico is represented by directors Guillermo del Toro with Nightmare Alley and Carlos López Estrada with Raya and the Last Dragon; Germaine Franco will represent Colombia with the animated film Encanto, which is nominated in the best musical score category, and Chile’s Hugo Covarrubias is hoping for a win in the best animated short film category with Bestia.

In Mexico the show will begin at 6pm local time and the red carpet event will begin 90 minutes earlier.

EL PAÍS will provide real-time coverage of the awards ceremony. Additionally, TNT and TNT Series will air the event while the red carpet programming will be available on E!
In Mexico, Azteca 7 will begin airing the show at 5pm and in the US it will be aired by ABC.
Favorites to win
Besides The Power of the Dog, which has 12 nominations, CODA received critical acclaim at the Sundance Festival and is considered a serious challenger to Jane Campion’s western. Another well-placed candidate is Belfast, which earned the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival.
Who is hosting
This year there will be three women in charge of hosting the Academy Awards: Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals chief Craig Erwich said that “Regina, Amy and Wanda are comedy powerhouses who will make history as the first female trio to host the biggest night in entertainment, and we’re thrilled to have them at the helm to deliver an incredible show full of unforgettable moments and laughter.”
