Grace Burns, the stunning daughter of Christy Turlington, has just made her debut as a model

At 19, she has debuted at a fashion show in Italy, starred in a campaign for Carolina Herrera and is preparing to follow in the footsteps of her mother, one of the most influential models in the history of fashion

The fashion industry has another “nepo baby.” Her name is Grace Burns, and she is the daughter of actor and producer Brian Burns and supermodel Christy Turlington. At the age of 19, she stepped onto a catwalk for the first time to follow in the footsteps of her mother, one of the great supermodels of the ‘90s. Turlington made history alongside Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss by signing million-dollar contracts with brands such as Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani and Maybeline.

Grace Burns walked the runway for the first time in Italy for LuisaViaRoma x British Vogue Runway Icons, an event created by the British magazine to celebrate global fashion. For her runway debut, she wore a white Victoria Beckham dress paired with long black gloves. “I feel so grateful to have had this perfection of an experience as my first show and to have been blessed [...] Just thinking about all the people who made this possible and I wish I could hug each and every one of you! [...] Grateful till I die,” Burns commented on her Instagram, where she posted some photos of the fashion show.

Although this was Grace Burns’ official debut in the fashion world, the young woman has been moving closer and closer to modeling for months. Together with her mother, she has attended fashion shows and parties in several fashion weeks recently. She also sat next to Turlington in the front row of the Fendi fashion show and accompanied her to different parties. During this time, Burns has also graced the cover of ‘Muse’ magazine. When the issue of the magazine came out Christy Turlington posted the cover on Instagram saying, “She is my muse.”

Although Grace is continuing with her university studies, in recent months she has also had time to star in a Carolina Herrera campaign with her mother. Everything seems to indicate that Burns’ plans include trying her luck in the fashion world, where her mother is an institution.

Her name joins those of many other models’ children who are entering the family business. Brands are increasing their demand for Lila Moss, the daughter of Kate Moss, as well as Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford. Lila Moss has recently been the image of one of Zara’s summer campaigns. We have also seen the first steps in the industry taken by Ever Anderson, Milla Jovovich’s daughter, who has just starred in a Marc Jacobs campaign, and Mingus Reedus, Helena Christensen’s son, who has already modeled for brands such as Versace.

During the 1990s, Christy Turlington was one of the most influential models. After appearing on Peter Lindbergh’s famous Vogue cover, she was one of George Michael’s choices to appear alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and the late Tatjana Patitz in the video for his song Freedom. In an interview with S Moda, where she was featured on the cover, Turlington opened up about her memories of the era: “It was an iconic time for fashion and music, but I never think about the past and I’m never nostalgic. I live in the present and if I’m not asked, I don’t think about it. Although now that my daughter is 19 and the nineties are all the rage, I’m surprised. But well, everything is a cycle, in that decade we were obsessed with the seventies and it’s always the same. Anyway, for me the big time was right at the end of the eighties, which is when I started and everything was new to me.”

In that interview, the model also talked about her activism. She is behind the creation of EveryMother Counts, an initiative aimed at preventing women in developing countries from dying in childbirth. Today, more than 300,000 women do not survive and 98% of those cases are preventable. Turlington was one of the first people to speak publicly about a traumatic experience for all of us who have lived through it. Complications arose from a poor delivery of the placenta during the birth of her daughter, Grace, in 2004. It caused her to lose a lot of blood, which means almost certain death if no remedies are available.
