Jennifer Lopez, angry after a guest leaked a video of her wedding without her consent
“This was taken without permission. Period,” the singer wrote on Instagram after TMZ published the recording of an intimate moment she shared with Ben Affleck at their second nuptials
On August 26, TMZ published a short video in which Jennifer Lopez, 53, wearing her wedding dress, sang to her new husband, Ben Affleck, 50, as he sat watching her. “All night long,” Lopez crooned, surrounded by a dance troupe, “I can feel the passion in your eyes / I’m still in love with you.” The seconds-long video captures a moment from Bennifer’s second wedding on August 20. They tied the knot again in front of around 100 guests, including the couple’s friends and relatives. The ceremony took place in Savannah, Georgia, on Affleck’s 35-hectare farm on Hampton Island, which overlooks the Conasauga River.
While social media users were overjoyed to see the star couple’s romantic moment, Jennifer Lopez expressed her displeasure about the leaked video. In a comment on one of the videos that circulated on the internet, Lopez said: “This was recorded without permission. Period. And whoever did it took advantage of our private moment.”
In the post, Lopez was clearly surprised that the video had been made public. All her wedding guests signed non-disclosure agreements and were explicitly asked not to share anything from the wedding; whoever leaked the video could face legal consequences. “That is our choice to share,” the singer wrote, noting that she shares her private life with her fans through her newsletter OnTheJLo, and that she will share her wedding when she feels ready to do so. “This was stolen without our consent and sold for money,” Jennifer Lopez added along with a sad-face emoji.
Since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their relationship 17 years after they split up, the actor and the singer have sought to control what the public learns about their love life as much as possible. This is an important issue for the couple; media harassment of the pair was a major reason why they called it quits the first time. Last 2021, Affleck himself said as much on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast: “My relationship with Jennifer Lopez turned out to be the sensationalist story at a time when that business was growing exponentially.” The second time around, Jennifer Lopez told People magazine, they are “older, wiser” and more experienced. That’s why the couple has decided to act natural around the paparazzi; Jennifer and Ben know that they will never get rid of the press. But the pair has also decided to control what they share and with whom. The couple’s two weddings – the first was a surprise affair in mid-July in Las Vegas; the second was the planned ceremony that recently occurred in Georgia – were shrouded in secrecy. But Lopez gradually told fans about her nuptials without much fanfare in her own newsletter.
