Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner split up
A source close to the two confirmed the breakup to ‘People’ magazine. The Puerto Rican artist and the supermodel from the famous Kardashian family began dating this year in February
They were one of the most surprising couples of 2023. Bad Bunny — a chart-topping Puerto Rican singer — and Kendall Jenner — a supermodel and member of the famous Kardashian family — were first seen together in February. Rumors that they were dating soon followed. And the couple — perhaps aware of their fame and the great interest in their lives — did not exactly keep a low profile.
But according to a source who spoke to People magazine, the pair have now broken up. Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner were last seen together at the Saturday Night Live after-party in October, where Bad Bunny was both host and musical guest.
Back in February, an anonymous source confirmed that the two were spending time together.“Kendall recently started hanging out with him,” the source told People. “They were introduced by friends. He moved to L.A. a few weeks ago and bought a house. She likes him and is having fun. He is different from guys that she dated in the past. He is very charming.”
The pair were spotted together more often, but it was not until May that they appeared holding hands at their first event as an official couple: a Lakers game in Los Angeles, where they both wore snakeskin boots — just as the Beckhams used to coordinate their outfits.
In June, Bad Bunny was on the cover of the U.S. edition of Rolling Stone, while Kendall Jenner was on the cover of The Wall Street Journal. Both were questioned about the relationship, and both were cryptic. “I know [people are] going to say something. People know everything about me, so what’s left for me to protect? My private life, my personal life,” said the singer without going into details.
For her part, the model gave a similar response. “I try [to] find the balance of keeping things private and keeping things sacred [and] also not letting the unfortunate frustration and stress of everyone trying to get in on it stop me from enjoying my side,” she said. “Does that make sense? I’ll go out of my way to do things as privately as possible because I just think that that’s the healthier way of dealing with relationships anyway.”
The couple attended more public events together, including the Gucci fashion show in Milan, at the beginning of September. At the end of that month, the two became the face of the Italian brand’s new ad campaign.
In September, Bad Bunny was also on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. In that interview, he opened up a little more about his relationship with the supermodel, sharing that his fans had been critical of his partner. “They don’t know how you feel, they don’t know how you live, they don’t know anything, and I really don’t want them to know,” he told the magazine “I’m not really interested in clarifying anything because I have no commitment to clarify anything to anyone. I am clear and my friend Jomar is clear and my mother is clear. They are the only ones to whom I have to clarify anything. As for Juliana Dominguez from Mississippi” — referring to random fan’s name — ”I have nothing I need to clarify to her. Never. About anything.”
Curiously, in that interview he also acknowledged something that caught the attention of fans: Bad Bunny still has problems with English, and Kendall Jenner speaks practically no Spanish. The issue came up when Bad Bunny was asked about how he would feel recording an album in English. “It’s not like I hate the idea” of performing in English, he said. “It’s just that I feel more comfortable in my own language. I think in Spanish, I feel in Spanish, I eat in Spanish, I sing in Spanish.”
“With some people, I speak English — with some specific people,” continued the singer, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio. “With one of them, I couldn’t talk to her before.”
In September and October, the press even speculated about whether the couple had become engaged. However, in November, a strange post on Jenner’s Instagram account, where she has 294 million followers, made many fans wonder if they had broken up. Jenner posted a photo of the sunset, writing, “What’s meant for me, will simply find me.” At the moment, neither the model nor the singer have commented on the breakup.
