Remove stickers fast and without scratching your car with this TikTok trick
Getting rid of decals can end badly if you don’t use the right tools and techniques
Removing a sticker is not an easy task, especially when it has been on the car for years. As the adhesive is firmly attached to the surface, it’s difficult to take it off for good. What’s more, using the wrong technique to remove a sticker can result in a scratch on the paint or glass. That’s why it is best to opt for a proper strategy from the get-go, using the right tools.
Removing stickers from glass
There are countless videos on social media showing different ways to remove stickers. However, many use metal tools, such as some sort of spatula. The problem is, with this tool, the car can be scratched easily. The following video shows a specific technique: dampen a cloth with soda and press it on the sticker. Then, using a plastic — not metal — spatula, carefully remove the remains.
It’s a good idea to cleaning the area before and after. Using a hair dryer to generate heat and further loosen the adhesive is another helpful trick. You can also use a plastic card, a snow scraper or even your fingernail. If there are any remains left, a sponge with soap or a little vinegar will help you finish the job.
Removing stickers from body
For the body of the car, the process is similar. Of course, damaging the paint is easier than scratching the glass, so you will have to be extra careful.
One of the secret products is Coca-Cola, but there are other household items that you can use, such as hairspray. Apply it generously on the adhesive; then clean it off with a microfiber cloth. The result is practically immediate.
