Thousands of public-health workers took to the streets of Madrid once more on Sunday (above), in protest against the regional government’s plans to privatize the management of six hospitals and 27 clinics.

As on previous occasions, the demonstrators began their marches from a number of hospitals and headed toward the central Sol square.

Medical staff in Madrid have been striking for 11 days now, forcing the cancelation of 4,000 surgical procedures, according to regional authorities.
