From J.Lo’s revenge dress to Zendaya’s futuristic suit: The most striking looks of 2024

Some have created a buzz, others have elevated new fashion icons, and some have shattered the last taboos of ageism. Here are the outfits that made the biggest impact of the year

Zendaya and her retro-futuristic robot look. One of the most striking fashion moments of the year came when Zendaya wore a vintage Thierry Mugler piece at the London premiere of 'Dune II.' The actress stunned in Mugler’s iconic "Machinenmensch" suit, originally worn by model Nadja Auermann at the legendary Fall-Winter 1995-1996 couture show, held at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris, which 'The New York Times' dubbed the "Woodstock of fashion." Inspired by 'Metropolis,' the metallic jumpsuit, created in collaboration with artist Jean-Jacques Urcun, took six months to make.

Styled by Law Roach, Zendaya paired the suit with a Bulgari necklace, further cementing her status as a style icon. Though she admitted to Vogue that the heat of the suit made her dizzy, her choice beautifully bridged the past and present, delivering an unforgettable tribute.
