By finishing second on the podium at Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso closed the gap between him and championship leader Sebastian Vettel, who managed an epic third place in the race after having started from the back of the grid.

Alonso is now on 245 points, just 10 points shy of the Red Bull driver. With just two races left to run in the 2012 season, fans are expecting a thrilling showdown between the two.

“I am very happy,” said Alonso, who lost out on the win on Sunday to Lotus’ Kimi Raikkonen. “Second was the maximum achievable today starting sixth, but Sunday was better and we will keep fighting until the end.”
